We each have our own version of what our lives could look like.  While we might not always agree with how others might approach this, being true to ourselves is critical to our own success.

What is your best life?  Who’s to say?  You do!  That is why it’s important for you to get clear on what is important to you!  It’s not someone else’s version, it’s your own.  What kind of courage do you need to move your dream into reality?  For most of us, it takes a lot!  Maybe it’s not easy, but the great feeling we gain by living true to ourselves, or living a healthy life, may be immense!

How do you actually make these changes?  Try this exercise. Consider your life is represented by a circle, and the circle is broken down into pieces. Each piece of the circle, or pie piece, represents an aspect of your life.  What are the pieces of your pie?   Family, finances, relationships, work, play, spirituality all could be such pieces.

How ‘full’ is each piece?  If you were to think about the very tip of the pie piece as ‘empty’, or fully unsatisfied, and the wide arch of the crust being ‘full’, or fully satisfied, where would your current level of fulfillment be? This is a simple but effective way to view our lives.  Your potential in each area is attaining a ‘full’ piece. Balanced levels of fullness also might be an ultimate goal.

How you actually fill each piece is unique to you!  What will you do to fill each piece of your pie?  Moving toward a full pie may be a goal to living a rewarding life!  Enjoy your pie!

Spring is all about new growth, new beginnings, freshness and color! After the winter’s chill and darkness, we emerge in new light, stretch our limbs, take in a deep breath and grow! This is the time to create new projects, shed layers of extra ‘weight’ (figuratively and actually!) and get moving!

This is more so (than January 1st) the time to create new activities and habits, the time to actually design your life. Create more relaxation and fun, start eating higher quality foods, or move your body to get the energy and conditioning it needs. What is it you want to create for yourself? How do you want to feel? What new ways & beings can be started this spring so you are living more in alignment with the life you desire? Better than a New Year’s revolution, Spring is the time to create a New You revelation!

Here are 5 steps you can take to create sustainable change in your life-

* Consider WHY do you want to make a change- Do you feel it in your body (like an emotion stirred) when you think of this? If you are clear about your own intrinsic motivation you are more apt to stick with it! Clarify your motivation and keep it as a reminder.
* Create SMART goals- Make your goals Specific, Measurable, Action-oriented, Realistic, and Time defined. This will help with keeping on track and defining next steps.
* Set a plan- Scheduling and planning are your friends! Use your planner to set appointments to start taking the actions that will help you successfully move toward your goal. Break down into doable steps (smaller if those are seemingly overwhelming)
* Get support- Tell everyone, surround yourself with others up to the same thing, get a coach.
* Take immediate action- No better time then the present to take your 1st step! What will that be? Ditch the negative thoughts and start growing now!

Springing to life isn’t an easy task, but with some planning and nurturing it is doable. Sometimes a seed is dormant for months, often years, but when the conditions are right, the new leaves begin to grow. What conditions do you need to flourish? What does being well mean to you?  Being healthy?  Feeling good? No illness? No stress?  What is the value you place on that?  And why is it that many of us have such a hard time doing the things we need to do to achieve our optimum well being?

We could spend eons asking why and belittling ourselves, or we can just reassess and maybe make a choice that has us being a little bit more healthier or feeling better about ourselves.  The human mind is complex, and there are so many things that are unanswerable.  But it does us no good to dwell in dis-empowerment.  Instead, we could look at what would give us the most power in taking care of ourselves?  Remembering that we have choice is powerful, and that we can choose to think a different way, or choose do something differently in our everyday lives.  I’m not talking about huge changes or achieving that perfect vision you have for your self.  I am speaking about little, doable things that we can do to be healthier, happier and live a better quality of life.

Maybe it could be taking more 5 minute breaks?  Occasional walks, not eating that hamburger and fries, taking a few deep breaths when something pisses us off, or indulging in a bubble bath.  I’m sure you can think of other things, little things, that you can do to improve the quality of your life and improve your well being.  I invite you to consider what the cost is of not taking care of yourself and start finding (and doing) those little things to enhance your life today.

How do you enjoy your summer?

As my intent is to help people live happier and healthier lives, not only do we need to be doing things that are healthy, but we need to choose actions and events that make us happy. Truly authentic happiness, what our soul screams for, not just happy because of…(whatever reason fits)

If you think about it, what really gives you that satisfying feeling of belonging and joy? For me, it’s being in nature, having deep, meaningful conversations and being absorbed in a creative project.

So what does this have to do with enjoying summer? Well, it’s doing those things that are meaningful to you, that give you that deep sense of satisfaction that help us to enjoy our time. So is it trips with family? Playing? Drawing? Having quiet? Gathering with a few important folks? Stretching or Exercising? Making wonderful meals?

Often times we don’t think we can do much to enjoy our lives or be more relaxed.  Not so!  Here are 5 easy ways to bring more ease and balance into your life-

1) Stop and breathe.  By slowing down and focusing on your breath, you can bring down your stress and blood pressure.

2) Notice what’s going on around you.  Too often we get lost in the past or future, and are not present to what is happening right now.  Being present helps you to appreciate what is so right now.

3) Be Grateful.  Instead of focusing on the things that aren’t going the way you want, notice and give thanks to the wonderful things already in your life.

4) Laugh- Don’t take life so seriously, look for the humor and enjoy a good belly laugh!  Laughter releases stress and makes us feel good!

5) Chose what is really important to you.  Act upon what is important to you, say no to what is not.  By doing so you are setting your boundaries and living according to your values!

I challenge you to try some of these tips and see yourself relaxed!!
